Footprint served as the official periodical of the Americans for Customary Weight and Measure, an advocacy group dedicated to preserving the U.S. customary system of measurement as integral to American cultural identity. It was published bi-annually on the winter and summer solstices from New York City.
This issue centered around William Burroughs, featured on the cover in a t-shirt with the text [NO METRIC]. Within, Burroughs articulates his opposition to the metric system, framing its retention as a vital expression of cultural individualism and an essential aspect of the nation's way of life, akin to its language. He prefers the customary system for its "humanistic and workable" qualities, in that it is based on human anatomical measurements.
Good overall; foxing.
