George & Her Superstars was a San Francisco-based performance art and music collective spearheaded by Girl George. The Superstars referred to a fluid collective of collaborators including musicians, dancers, and visual artists who contributed to her shows. The group merged music with performance art, often incorporating themes of body modification and identity.
Girl George began her performance career in the early 1960s, adopting her stage name by 1966. She later formed a duo with The Arizona Star, touring with various musicians including Dr. Hook during her Nashville residency from 1971 to 1973. In 1974, while in London, she encountered Malcolm McLaren's punk clothing store and established a friendship with Chrissie Hynde, prior to her return to San Francisco where she produced and hosted a late 1970s television variety program and performance act with The Superstars.
Very good overall; staple holes; creased corner.
