William H. Depperman produced newsprint posters and broadsides, often critical of governmental actions and various political movements. Active across NYC throughout the 1980s, his work was characterized by a widespread distribution method often described as "spamming." At the time of this poster's publication, Depperman was recognized by the New York Times as a "master graffiti writer." His activities also drew official condemnation, notably from Mayor Ed Koch.
