Yoji Kuri (1928–2024) was a Japanese animator, cartoonist, and illustrator, widely regarded as a pioneer of independent animation in Japan. He was a founding member of the "Animation Group of Three" alongside Hiroshi Manabe and Ryohei Yanagihara. This work directly correlates to Kuri's animated short film "The Room" (Heya), which won the Lion of San Marco Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
